Summary:

The Controller will use a broad knowledge of accounting principles and have strong problem-solving skills in this day-to-day essential function.
Must have expertise in all areas of accounting including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and be able to manage & guide the accounting department through financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and implementing internal controls.
Ensures the company's finances run smoothly by monitoring, conducting audits and providing information to COO & CEO.


Responsibilities:

Accounting and Administration
Facilitate a "hands-on" approach with the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions.
Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns.
Addressing client financial issues and complaints and resolving all related problems.
Accounting Activities Prepare month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/overhead cost allocation Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems Serve as final point of escalation for Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable issues Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits Lead the transition to a new set of books and potentially moving to QuickBooks Online Cash Management Oversee weekly cash management; Approve weekly payables Oversee AR management and provide support to collections activities Finance Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
Oversee cash, investment, and asset management.
Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships.
Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization's operations and business plans.
Financial Planning and Analysis Prepare and maintain regular financial planning reports; Monthly profit and loss forecast by division (vs. budget); yearly, monthly and weekly cash flow forecast.
Complete analysis of financial results; Develop recommendations (strategic and tactical).
Develop and execute analysis of various business initiatives (e.g., opening new operations, asset acquisition, new service/product launches).
Develop and maintain capital budget.
Assist in development of financial planning and analysis exercises/reports.
Qualifications: A minimum of a BS/BA; a CPA and/or MBA would be a plus.
At least 10 years of experience as a Controller or an equivalent position, preferably in a fast-turning business atmosphere with an annual budget of at least $20 million.
Highly proficient in understanding QuickBooks desktop and online.
Experience with use of Stampli Application software preferred Experience working with information technology staff managing finance and accounting software packages.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience with multistate and multi jurisdiction sales tax.
Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial and operational management strategies.
Experience in multi-branch operations.
Mastery level with MS EXCEL spreadsheets is an absolute must.
