Job Description General Purpose: The Controller oversees accounting functions and demonstrating expertise in company-wide systems and processes. This position will lead a team to ensure established accounting policies and procedures are followed. Direct reports include the Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, and Senior Accountant, Revenue. The Controller is responsible for ensuring monthly, quarterly, and annual trial balance reports are in compliance with US GAAP and requirements from the parent company. This professional will manage relationships and interact with external agencies and partners (government agencies, auditors, parent company departments). This is a full-time exempt position in which the work is performed under limited supervision from the Director, Accounting. 
Essential Responsibilities :  Oversees the month-end, quarterly, and annual financial close process. Plans and executes according to priorities and understanding of transaction cycles. Oversees timely and accurate trial balance reporting and filing deadlines.  Establishes and maintains internal controls and procedures in compliance with policies. Communicates with management outside of Accounting, facilitates solutions that affect other departments. Supervises Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, and Senior Accountant. Assigns responsibilities appropriately in accordance with experience and skill set. Functions as a back-up for Assistant Controller and Accounting Manager, as needed. Maintains knowledge in US GAAP, Federal Acquisition Regulations, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). Researches technical accounting topics, and proposes solutions. Reads and understands parent company policies and procedures.  Critically evaluates accounting problems and questions, and confidently proposes solutions, after considering GAAP, company policies, company Disclosure Statements, and assessed risk. Communicates solutions appropriate for the audience. Completes annual written evaluations of direct reports, in accordance with company procedures. Independently identifies, evaluates, and implements improvements to company accounting practices, internal controls, efficiency and reporting to increase productivity. Communicates thoroughly with other SEAKR employees and others outside the company in this process. Reviews, edits, and drafts Accounting department training guides and policies.  Establishes and maintains knowledge of areas specified below.  Assists with improving ERP functionality and implementation for new accounting functions. Other Duties/Responsibilities: Completes special projects as determined by Director, Accounting and senior executives. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory Duties: Plans, organizes, and oversees the work of employees engaged in a variety of accounting functions. Manages remote employees effectively. Trains and supports career development for direct reports. Reviews and evaluates performance, recommending compensation increases and/or disciplinary action for direct reports. Trains direct reports and staff on accounting procedures, policies or technical accounting topics as needed. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of US generally accepted accounting principles, concepts, practices, theories and procedures. Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations, and Cost Accounting Standards. Knowledge of payroll processing and related laws. Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Ability to learn new software systems Ability to quickly learn changes to laws, regulations, and new policies Ability to develop and review complex Excel spreadsheets including pivot tables and formulas. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks. Ability to communicate effectively: orally, email, chat, in person, or remote. Ability to establish good rapport with other employees. Ability to perform arithmetical calculations and develop accurate accounting reports and statements. Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required. CPA is required. Experience :
Direct, hands-on experience with implementation and operation of Company-wide ERP computer systems is required. At least ten years of progressively more responsible, relevant experience is required. Experience with managing people and job-costing is required. Additional Information Compensation and Further Details Compensation: Base pay range is $125,000-$175,000 depending on qualifications . SEAKR has very rich medical, dental and vision insurance plans, along with a generous 401(k) retirement plan. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible for a year-end bonus. SEAKR offers a variety of paid leave, such as vacation, sick, bereavement, and FMLA.
