As a Cook at Silverfern North, you play a crucial role in providing delicious and nutritious meals for our residents. You will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality meals while local regulations and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Meal Preparation:Prepare and cook a variety of meals following established recipes and portion sizes to ensure quality and consistency.Consider dietary restrictions, allergies, and individual preferences when planning and preparing meals.Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering food and supplies as needed.Safety & Quality Control:Inspect food items for quality and freshness, and ensure all prepared dishes meet presentation and taste standards.Adhere to all food safety regulations, including temperature controls, hygiene practices, and allergen management.Comply with health and safety guidelines and assist in kitchen inspections as required.Properly handle and dispose of kitchen waste, including recycling and composting.Follow guidelines for the disposal of hazardous materials if encountered.Perform routine maintenance on kitchen equipment, such as ovens, grills, and stovetops.Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the supervisor for prompt repair.Ensure consistency in taste and presentation for all dietary variations.Teamwork:Work closely with other kitchen staff, including sous chefs, kitchen assistants, and servers to ensure efficient meal service.Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.Customer Service:Interact with residents and their families in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner.Address special requests and accommodate resident feedback to improve the dining experience.Qualifications:
Culinary degree or relevant cooking experience.Knowledge of food preparation techniques, presentation, and nutrition.Strong attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for cooking.Food safety certification or willingness to obtain one.Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy pots and kitchen equipment.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required.Join our dedicated culinary team and make a significant impact on the well-being of our senior residents.
