This posting creates a pool of candidates for future positions that may become available.
JOB SUMMARY
Provides the instructional leadership for the Magnet Program at the assigned school, communicates with school and county administrators of Program components/expectations, and in collaboration with the Administrative Liaison provides oversight, program organization and management to ensure implementation fidelity of the Magnet program.
Additional evening, night and weekend work duty requirements are in accordance with the TAAAC negotiated agreement.

Based on the assignment, the following additional work days and/or hours may be required as needed:

Ability to work flexible schedules Evenings/Nights Weekends ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Works with the administrative liaison and Magnet counselor(s) to ensure students are scheduled in classes that meet the Magnet Program requirements regarding state and county graduation requirements as well as the magnet requirements for specialized instruction and coursework.
Maintains open communication with parents in the following areas - student academic success, attendance, job shadowing, special events, family nights, and other related areas.
Keeps up to date on new teaching/learning trends within the magnet area of study and developing teacher capacity by leading teacher in-service, and providing on-going professional development, and instructional supports in the following areas as they relate to the magnet program: teaches to state and national standards and to current research findings, maintains classroom organization and management, uses and adapts materials of instruction, develops skills and techniques of instruction, interprets test results to identify abilities of each student, seeks ways to involve students meaningfully in their educational program, helps to plan the best program for each student by adapting instruction to individual need, develops long range and daily plans, individually and in participating in teams, and connecting teachers with professionals within the magnet area of study.
Participates in recruitment activities to foster interest and application to the program by a diverse population.
Maintains open communication with parents in the following areas - student academic success, attendance, job shadowing, special events, family nights, and other related areas through updated websites, magnet parent/student events, and regular emails and newsletters.
Facilitates collaborative planning within the department that focuses on the state approved curriculum,curriculum materials, formative and summative assessments, and on-going data analysis to improve student learning.
Works collaboratively with other department chairs to foster cross-curricular connections and support for transdisciplinary magnet related lessons/overlays in all instructional areas.
Coordinates with administration and the ASP office in developing department goals consistent with the Magnet plan and county goals.
Partners with school administration and the Advanced Studies Program (ASP) office personnel to develop and implement the criteria and protocols of the Magnet Program and works collaboratively with administration and ASP office to develop and implement new initiatives for the Magnet program.
Monitors and observes the implementation of the school improvement plan and makes recommendations that are focused and aligned to meeting the needs of all students.
Organizes and schedules job shadowing/field trip activities including transportation, forms, approval, etc., organizes, schedules, and prepares for scheduled family nights.
Maintains data and documentation on multiple aspects of the magnet program.
Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education Bachelor's Degree in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.
Experience Three (3) years successful classroom teaching experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
Ability to create a team with internal and external stakeholders that works collaboratively and promotes high expectations for all students.
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
Experience working in a highly collaborative environment where teamwork, creative problem solving, high level of diplomacy, collegiality, and self-motivation were necessary for success.
Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g.
Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.
Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) preferred.
Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Standard Professional Certificate I (SPC I) issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required.
Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and Daily access to reliable transportation.
Driving Requirements Driving is required to conduct bona fide Board business that is within the scope of employment in this position.
