Job SummaryThe Transportation Coordinator helps fulfill production requirements by determining when additional workers are needed. Job DescriptionExperience Required: 1 to 3 yearsExperience Desired: Working in loading dock operations, dispatch or distribution center operations in a unionized environment or logistics related fields; 1 to 3 years of experience in customer service, logistics or transportation desired. Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalentLifting Requirement: Up to 25 poundsTravel Required: NoneAge Requirement: At least 21 years of ageJob ResponsibilitiesDetermine when additional workers are needed in order to fulfill production requirements. Communicate needs of temporary help to Union representatives; prepare driver bid sheets and direct bidding process to ensure prompt, expedient dispatching of trailers; and prepare tractor lists periodically during shift to ensure availability of equipment. Oversee stock levels of equipment supplies and work activities of transportation personnel to ensure job responsibilities are accomplished in accordance with department procedures. Perform administrative procedures relating to compliance with government regulations controlling motor carriers and commercial drivers. Record accurate information pertaining to employee report offs to ensure correct employee attendance records are maintained. Maintain current, organized files of driver trip sheets and palletizing sheets to ensure readily accessible information. Maintain accuracy for timely arrival of backhauls according to specific schedules. Answer incoming calls in a professional manner; respond to inquiries and special reports and determine which can be handled immediately or should be referred to a manager, appropriate staff member or other department.
