This role will advise and support teams dedicated to security, compliance and risk management of AWS infrastructure. Initially, this role will focus primarily on AWS offerings for AWS customers (including government agencies with a national security and/or defense mission) that need specialized security and connectivity solutions for cloud services. You will advise senior leadership on strategic matters related to, and be responsible for regulatory matters associated with, hardware, technology, and facilities used to support those specialized security solutions. This role is part of a team responsible for counseling AWS on security and risk management of AWS infrastructure, including supply chain, hardware devices, firmware, and other related matters. You'll help chart long term strategy for protecting the infrastructure of AWS, and work closely with security, risk management, public policy, and outside counsel to understand, anticipate and articulate the requirements and regulations applicable to AWS infrastructure around the world.

Key Job ResponsibilitiesProviding advice on regulations concerning the design, development, manufacture, procurement, distribution, use and disposition of NSA-certified encryption, cross domain solutions, and other regulated technologies to enable classified communications.Providing compliance-related legal support for construction, procurement and global operations for AWS Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities globally.Monitoring and advising the business of upcoming regulatory changes related to those topics.Formulating, implementing, and maintaining applicable regulatory compliance policies and processes.Minimum RequirementsJuris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent.5+ years of legal experience.Experience providing legal counsel and support for regulatory and compliance matters.Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Experience with regulations related to the National Industrial Security Program (NISPOM), U.S. government cybersecurity regulations, FARS and DFARS requirements, FedRAMP, Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), National Cross Domain Solutions Management Office (NCDSMO), NSA Communications Security (COMSEC), and/or requirements related to supply chain security.Experience building and scaling compliance programs in-house.In-house experience in the defense or aerospace industries.7+ years of legal experience (with several years in-house).Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.Strong organizational and project management skills.Strong analytical and communication skills.Common sense, great judgment, and a good sense of humor.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
