Expedia Group is seeking a dynamic, commercially minded attorney to support EG's Payments, Checkout and platform Product & Technology teams. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced, in-house environment with direct responsibility supporting product and business teams. Based in Seattle and reporting to a Senior Director, Legal, you will be responsible for advising on payments matters, checkout and site display, product initiatives, and commercial and regulatory matters. You will also handle a broad range of global commercial transactions and provide legal advice to business clients regarding contract interpretation, disputes, and other commercial and regulatory matters.
What you'll do Advise business clients on a range of issues including site display, product implementation, contract interpretation, risk management, changes in law and regulatory risks.
Review and draft a wide range of global commercial agreements pertaining to payments and payment adjacent services, including payment processing and banking services agreements, Buy Now Pay Later agreements, and other business contracts.
Ensure legal compliance of checkout, site display, and partner communications.
Update legal guidelines and provide proactive legal training to business teams.
Project manage new business and legal initiatives.
Collaborate with colleagues in Expedia's broader legal team as well as key internal functions such as tax, finance, privacy, Government Affairs and treasury.
Efficiently manage outside counsel to obtain specialized and/or multi-national advice.
Who you are: Possess a J.D. degree with membership in good standing in at least one state bar (Washington preferred).
Have at least 7 years of experience as an attorney at a top regional or national law firm, and/or in a dynamic, in-house legal environment.
Demonstrate significant experience advising product managers and engineers working on consumer facing websites.
Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial transactions. A background in contracts relating to payments or financial services is a plus.
Have a proven track record of establishing strong working relationships with internal and external business clients and within the legal department or law firm.
Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills and work ethic.
International and multi-jurisdictional experience is a plus.
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $162,500.00 to $227,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $260,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
