Corporate Counsel, JP Seller Services LegalAmazon Japan's Legal Department is looking for a talented lawyer with approximately 5-12 years' PQE to fill the position of Corporate Counsel, Seller Services.
This position will support Amazon's rapidly expanding marketplace and fulfillment services business in Japan and related cross-border issues. The attorney will negotiate and advise on various matters from commercial contracts to complex, high-dollar value transactions and cutting-edge business initiatives; provide day-to-day corporate and business law counseling; administer and resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships; and provide legal review of procedural and government compliance issues. This position also will be expected to participate in other Amazon legal projects as directed, including handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries. The successful candidate will report to a long-term Sr Mgr, Senior Corporate Counsel who has been working for Amazon Japan Legal for nearly 12 years and who reports to the Japan Legal Vice President.
This position will be based in Amazon Japan's Meguro headquarters, together with the Amazon Japan legal team.

Compensation is based on experience and includes equity compensation.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Law degree (J.D. or equivalent) from a leading university and law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Japan, the United States, and/or other common law jurisdiction.
- Strong transactional and project management experience.
- Approximately 5-12 years' PQE legal experience (with several years of experience at a leading global law firm and/or in-house at a major multinational corporation).
- The successful candidate will be proactive, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
- Must have ability to communicate orally and in writing, draft agreements and negotiate in Japanese and English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- In-house experience at an international corporation or a retail or e-commerce company.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to act as a business partner to senior management and clients of all levels.
- Outstanding legal and business judgment, drafting, negotiation, analytical, management and leadership skills.
- The ability to function as part of a global legal team and autonomously when required.
