Job Summary: Responsible for all aspects of the firm's corporate federal and state tax liability and compliance and is involved in the development and implementation of effective tax strategies. Incumbents will possess a thorough knowledge of national and international tax and accounting laws and will be required to liaise with external parties such as the Internal Revenue Service and State Tax Authorities. This function does not cover tax structuring specialists working on client related matters. This individual will, on a day-to-day basis, oversee and collaborate closely with external firm to which significant parts of the tax provision, reporting, compliance and consulting functions have been outsourced. Incumbent at this level is fully knowledgeable on the day-to-day activities of a product or process however will require input on more complex issues. This individual will have oversight of a team of staff and external contractors to ensure all daily responsibilities are completed. Individual at this level has some understanding of the firm's different businesses (bank, broker-dealer and leasing) and the related economics.
Oversee tax provisioning, reporting and compliance.Provide tax technical advice to business managers, operations and the management of MUFG and affiliates including the head office and outer branches with emphasis on international tax matters affecting their cross-border activities.Provide in-house training for business managers, operations, affiliates and the head office.Responsible for developing internal materials reflecting current U.S. tax law and regulations.Responsible for maintenance of the Bank's various tax policy and procedure manuals.Qualifications: 10+ years' experience in tax/accounting of international and domestic banks, broker-dealers and financial institutions.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
Strong technical skills (international tax, banking tax, corporate tax, state tax, accounting); strong analytical skills.
Strong consultation skills.
Strong communication skills (Japanese a plus).
CPA a plus.
The typical base pay range for this role is between $134K - $179K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
