Role Overview: The Corporate Systems Development division at New York Life Insurance Company is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Solutions Lead. This role requires expertise in Java & Python system development and AngularJS for web development, and API design utilizing Spring Boot/Mule.
As a Senior Development Lead, you will guide both onshore and offshore development teams to deliver scalable, high-performance applications across various platforms, including web, batch, and enterprise systems. You will play a crucial role in designing and implementing cutting-edge solutions that address complex business challenges while staying aligned with contemporary technology trends. Proficiency in Agile methodologies and experience leading cross-functional teams are critical for success in this role.
What You'll Do: Transform functional specifications into detailed technical designs, ensuring development of high-quality, scalable solutions. Oversee both front-end and back-end development processes.Design, code, document, and deploy robust Enterprise Java & Python based solutions. Conduct comprehensive regression testing and develop thorough Unit tests to ensure reliability.Monitor and enhance system performance, providing actionable insights and recommendations for optimization and improvements.Maintain meticulous documentation of program development, revisions, and technical processes. Deliver timely support and resolution for customer inquiries.Lead small to medium-sized projects and contribute significantly to larger project teams. Provide accurate estimates and timelines for project deliverables.Interface effectively with vendors and cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration between onshore and offshore team members.Stay informed about emerging technologies and methodologies. Research and propose tools and technologies that can advance project outcomes.Embrace and lead Agile practices, conduct proofs-of-concept, and develop prototypes to validate innovative solutions.What You'll Bring: Required Skills: Expert knowledge of Java Technology Stack, Spring Boot, Python and SQL.Proficiency in front-end frameworks and technologies, including TypeScript, AngularJS, HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap.Strong understanding of application security and ability to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities.Experienced with Docker, Git, Jenkins, and other DevOps tools.Hands-on experience with Data Engineering Pipelines – Python, Lambda, Step Function, RDS.Skilled in API integration, writing unit test cases, and performing System Integration Testing (SIT).Deep understanding of general application development processes and architectural considerations.Exhibit exceptional verbal and written communication skills, serving as a key liaison between IT and business units. Manage customer expectations and ensure high levels of satisfaction.Customize presentations for diverse audiences. Facilitate design sessions and clearly articulate technical concepts and solutions.Preferred Skills: Life Insurance and Annuities industry domain knowledge is preferred.Experience with Data Analytics (Tableau and Power BI) is a plus.Demonstrate an ability to learn and to adapt to new technologies is highly preferred.Proficiency in creating detailed documentation, including system configuration and user guides.Strong communication and problem-solving skills as well as an ability to work with multiple teams / time zones.Ability to develop and present new ideas and conceptualize new approaches and solutions.AWS Certification in either the Developer or Solutions Architect domain is a plus.Pay Transparency Salary Range: $122,500-$210,000
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
