Position: Counselor II, Residential Location: Southwood Interventions, 5701 S. Wood St., Chicago, IL 60636, Hours -day shiftSouthwood Interventions is seeking Senior Counselor or Counselor II or Lead Counselors who are experienced in Addiction Counseling, Substance Use Disorder and Substance Abuse Counseling to work onsite treating Adults in our community.

We need passionate, talented people working together who share our desire to provide the best quality care to our patients and lead the fight against alcohol and other drug use and abuse.As a Counselor you will complete comprehensive assessments of a patient's substance-use history and treatment requirements, and prepare individualized, developmentally appropriate treatment plan.
You will provide individual and group counseling, as well as psychoeducation, in accordance with treatment plans and perform case management services.
Additionally, you will document treatment and discharge plans, client's responses to treatment - including ASAM continued-stay determinations and will maintain related records and charts.Required certification or license: IAODAPCA certification CADC or IC&RC Counselor certification CRADC, CSADC, CAADC or LSW, LCSW, LPC, or LCPC andTwo (2) years paid work experience in a substance abuse, correctional, or other human services counseling position.Wage: From $20.00 per hour Wage may increase depending on level of college degree, degree type, experience above the minimum requirements, and clinical licensure or credential type.Job Type: Full-timeWho We Are:Abraxas Youth & Family Services is a nonprofit human services provider dedicated to Building Better Futures for youth, adults, and families.

Our benefit options meet you where you are in your life and set you up for success both in and outside of work.If you want to have a positive impact in the lives of others, come join us!SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR JOB SUMMARYIn this role, you will provide group and individual counseling, community support, case coordination and crisis intervention services to clients with a primary substance use disorder diagnosis.Responsibilities include, but not limited to:Complete assessment of each clientInitiate and sustain each individual's motivation to participate in treatmentDevelop a comprehensive service plan for each clientProvide daily treatment and curriculum-based education groupsMinimum RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED and 24 credit hours of college education or accredited training program in substance abuse counseling and/or other human services area.
Higher education given preference.Required certification or license:IAODAPCA certification as Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) orIC&RC Counselor certification (CRADC, CSADC, CAADC); orLicensed Social Worker (LSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), orLicensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).Two (2) years paid work experience in a substance abuse, correctional, or other human services counseling position.Other Qualifications:At least twenty-one (21) years of age.Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI).Non-communicable diseases physical exam, drug test & TB screenEqual Opportunity Employer.Abraxas Youth & Family Services, an affiliate of Apis Services Inc., offers a rewarding career for those passionate about making a difference in the lives of others.
