This individual will work directly with O'Tool Industries' management team to sell Pipe, Valves, and Fittings (PVF) to customers in municipal, agricultural, food, construction, commercial, and industrial markets. This individual will develop business and represent O'Tool to our customer base. This position is a full-time position. Working hours are from 8AM-5PM Monday through Friday & 8-12 on Saturdays. Additional odd hours may be required.
Note: Although the primary role of a Counter salesperson is answering phones and working the front counter in an inside air-conditioned area O'Tool is an industrial warehouse. There will be parts of your day that include heavy lifting, working outside, working with heavy machinery, collecting products from the warehouse, visiting job sites, etc. Often customers come in with products fresh from their job sites, and sometimes those products are caked with dirt and grime. In short, this can be a dirty job. Please consider this when applying to this position.
We envision a Counter salesperson that works diligently to provide the best customer service to our customer base. This individual would be a Rock Star in customer service. They would make customers feel comfortable. They would listen to the customer, work hard for the customer, and ensure the customer has everything they need. This individual would maintain a professional working relationship with our customers by follow-up with customers about their orders and check in with customers regularly about their future needs. This individual would work hard to support O'Tool's Outside Sales Team understanding that the outside team's success is their success. They would maintain the front office ensuring that it was clean, socking the fridge periodically and making the coffee daily. They would notify management when inventory was running low and watch the front counter at all times. This individual would always be seeking growth for O'Tool and themselves. They would continually be learning, educating themselves on new products, best sales practices, and new ways to positively affect O'Tool. This individual would be continually pushing O'Tool's team to do what is best for our customers and sales. Ideal candidates would be a team player that understands the success of a co-worker is the success of O'Tool and that the success of O'Tool is their success as well.
Sales Serve customers on the front counter.Work with customers to sale items, provide quotes, negotiate deals, close deals and drive sales.Let purchasing know if we are running low on items.Work with purchasing to procure special items for customers. Follow up with customers regularly.Follow the Sales Process. Daily Duties Never leave the front counter unattended. Keep your work environment clean. Ensure your desk, the front counter, the coffee area, the floors and any other areas in the front office are kept clean.Ensure the fridge is stocked and in the mornings the coffee is made. Answer the Phones Answer the phones when you're not working with a customer in person.When recording a message for your coworkers ask for the person's name, number, and the reason for the call then ensure your coworker receives the message. Be mindful when you place someone on hold and do not place someone on hold for too long.Don't let a phone ring for an extended period. Help Outside Sales Representatives Work in concert with O'Tool's Outside Sales Representatives to drive sales.Maintain excellent communication between yourself and the Outside Sales Representatives.Notify Outside Sales Representatives of new leads.Keep detailed records of customers info in our CRM. Help Outside Sales Representatives best serve our customers and secure sales. Help Outside Sales Representatives prep and pull orders.Act as a partner in sales to our Outside Sales Representatives understanding that serving their customers with the best customer service possible will drive positive results for yourself. This position requires the individual to work closely with Management.Management will ask our Sales Reps to follow procedures. Successful candidates will follow instruction well, respect management and coworkers, learn procedures, and be open-minded to new ways to do things. We are always open to new ideas, but we ask that you learn why we operate in a certain way before suggesting improvements. The priority of this job is sales. The priority of O'Tool is our customers. Sometimes you will be asked to do things outside of your regular job duties such as take deliveries, unload trucks, help with the warehouse or otherwise help your coworkers or managers.
