The Lake County Sheriff's Office is hiring for the position of: Court Bailiff / Inmate Transport Officer As a Court Bailiff / Inmate Transport Officer for the Lake County Sheriff's Office, you will:
Be responsible for maintaining order and security in the courtroom, ensuring the safety of all participants, and overseeing the secure and efficient transport of inmates between detention centers. This role requires vigilance, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle potentially stressful situations with professionalism. Provide impartial evaluation of inmates; cope with hostile and aggressive behaviors; maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations; and seek cooperation from individuals with varied backgrounds. The ideal candidate will be P.O.S.T certified or have a prior P.O.S.T certification which expired in good standing. Must pass a background check with a clear criminal history, and have a valid Montana Driver License.
Must have a strong understanding of legal procedures and courtroom etiquette; have the ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations; have excellent observation skills; effective communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to manage physically demanding tasks including restraining inmates if necessary.
The work environment requires working in both a courtroom and a vehicle for inmate transport, which may include long periods of sitting or standing. The role may involve exposure to potentially dangerous situations that requires the ability to react quickly and effectively.
Wage: $18.55/hour for Bailiff duties, $25.00/hour for Inmate Transport duties.
Hours: This is a part-time position.
