***This is an on-site role based at our Jeffersonville, IN facility. Pay: $43,680/YR Schedule: M-F 10-6 Full benefits starting day 1! Benefits include: 401(k) match Tuition reimbursement onsite daycare excellent health plans onsite gym and cafes Schedule: M-F 9AM-6PM Summary of This Role Processes and reviews client credit applications. Makes recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and compliance with Company, Sponsor Bank and Legal, Policy and Procedures. Effectively interacts with merchants, sales representatives, Senior Underwriters and Management to achieve timely adjudication of applications and in limiting loss, assessing risk, and in protecting the company against fraud and other risks.
What Part Will You Play? Risk Calculation Approval Limit is generally $50,000 for Underwriter I, in accordance with the US Credit Policy.
Understand the risks associated with the payment processing industry (Fraud, Credit, Regulatory, Legal, etc.)
Learns, Maintains and applies knowledge of fair lending issues, rules and various internal and external policies and regulations in Underwriting processes of new merchant applications.
Verify all information provided on the merchant application and supporting documentation is correct and consistent with required standards.
Call merchants regarding their applications when needed to verify information.
Read, interpret and analyze credit reports, financial statements, bank files, tax returns, other similar documentation and public records.
Analysis of all pertinent credit and financial information to assess degree of risk and creditworthiness of prospective merchants.
Ensure compliance with laws, bank regulation, corporate and divisional underwriting policies, procedures and standards.
Provide recommendations (approval, credit holds or declines etc.) on merchant applications and identify, document and escalate to management those deals that are over an Underwriter 1 approval authority as defined by policy.
Communicate decisions effectively in both verbal and written communication.
Demonstrate good listening, interpersonal and team working skills.
Work with Sr. Underwriters to seek alternative means of financing or counter offers for all merchants/clients when it is determined that the original request cannot be accommodated.

What Are We Looking For in This Role? Minimum Qualifications HS degree or equivalent
At least 1 year of previous financial experience in accounting, credit, or other related field.
Typically no related experience required
Preferred Qualifications Previous knowledge of the payment processing industry is preferred.
Previous experience with Salesforce preferred
Working knowledge of business financial statement analysis and review of tax returns preferred.
Working knowledge of credit policies, procedures, principles and philosophy preferred
