Summary Performs CT scans of designated anatomy using professional judgment while imaging with regard to technical quality according to physician specifications. Provides courteous and professional delivery of CT technical exams and procedures while adhering to radiation safety precautions. Supports patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding PHI and HIPPA related information. On-call as required by the department. Works in a hospital facility that offers full hospital services. Provides direct patient care to high acuity patients encompassing emergency, inpatient and outpatient classes supporting up to and including trauma and ICU.
Job Duties Performs all types of imaging procedures and operates all equipment safely and properly including scanners, injectors, and monitors. Reviews all images of all exams, repeating images as necessary for best possible result. Communicates with the patient by addressing the patient by name, introducing self to the patient, explaining the exam in lay terms and keeping the patient Informed of exam progress. Prepares patient images to PACs for interpretation by a radiologist and administers contrast media per protocol. Completes technical notes, verifies images, and sends exams to PACS promptly. Notifies physician of any adverse reaction to contrast media or change in patient's condition. Reviews patient chart/script prior to initiating exam to verify pertinent information. Prepares patients for CT procedures by accurately assessing patient's needs, medical history, and provides patient education. Operates computed tomography scanner for data acquisition, reconstruction of images, documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images. Attends department meetings or other mandatory meetings with a positive attitude. Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity. Minimum QualificationsTechnical School Diploma Graduate of accredited Radiography program or equivalent or CNMT, RT(CT) Certified Less than 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist Ability to provide proper patient care essential to radiologic procedures. Knowledge and skills to perform scans on patients of all ages, adapting to various protocols. Proficient use of the advanced software for CT scanning and post procedure processing applications. Strong aptitude for CT technology. Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and upbeat demeanor. American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or CNMT - Certified Nuclear Med Tech NMTCB - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire CT - Computed Tomography ARRT - State of Pennsylvania within 1 Year Preferred QualificationsAssociate's Degree Graduate of Health Science program Knowledge and skills to perform venipuncture. Physical Demands Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
