BACKGROUND Carmen Schools of Science and Technology (Carmen) is the largest public charter school network in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a mission to graduate all students as critical thinkers and self-directed learners prepared for success in college, meaningful careers, community involvement, and family life. Carmen Schools currently operates five campuses, each one as an independent charter school authorized by Milwaukee Public Schools or UW-Milwaukee.
QUALIFICATIONS Ability to communicate effectively to achieve assigned duties and goals
Associates degree or higher desirable
Experience working in a school preferred
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to multi task in a fast-paced environment
Passion for quality education and student achievement
Ability to take direction from multiple parties
Positive attitude and approach to working as part of a team
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES In School Suspension (ISS) supervision:
The Culture Specialist establishes and maintains a culture of high expectations in the ISS room
The Culture Specialist greets all students when they arrive and actively monitors their activity throughout the duration of ISS
The Culture Specialist ensures that students are independently working on classwork during ISS (eg - items on google classroom, completing independent reading, working on online platforms)
The Culture Specialist takes accurate attendance for each student assigned to ISS in SchoolRunner
The Culture Specialist makes contact home to families, when needed
Additional responsibilities The Culture Specialist supports schoolwide supervision in a number of spaces, notably during arrival, dismissal, transition and lunch
The Culture Specialist arrives on time to duty spots, proactively supervises / checks in with students
The Culture Specialist supports the overall mission of the campus by subbing in classrooms when vacancies rise
WORK ENVIRONMENT The culture specialist is an integral member of the culture team. They support students to be prepared for instruction by providing a predictable, calm and structured campus environment that is responsive to student need.
