Job Description
Reporting to the Custodial Services Assistant Manager, the Custodial Services Supervisor supervises, schedules, directs and inspects the work of custodial services workers and contract labor employees to maintain the required standard of cleanliness. This position trains custodial workers, acts as a resource person for resolving complaints, administers performance plans and evaluations, and monitors, controls and inventories equipment and supplies. This position also monitors snow/ice removal, daily outside area cleaning, recycling, delivery of supplies, and all required university activities.
Designated Emergency Personnel requires employees to report to work during emergency situations and closings
Required Qualifications
- Custodial/cleaning experience in an institutional, or commercial cleaning environment such as hospitality (hotel/motel), commercial cleaning company, manufacturing, health care facilities, etc.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning equipment.
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
- Must be able to safely and efficiently operate electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment.
- Must maintain a safe and secure work environment| Ability to train and supervise workers and to perform a wide variety of cleaning tasks.
- Must be able to walk and stand extensively; climb stairs; safely move or handle up to 35 lbs.; bend, stoop, reach (including reaching above the head to dust), push/pull, perform repetitive motion, twist, and shovel snow.
- This position is designated Emergency Personnel, and requires employees to report to work during emergency situations, closings, and per supervisor's instructions.
