Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in the supervision of cleaning and maintenance in the Law Enforcement facilities; performs related work as assigned.

Supervises, trains and evaluates custodial staff
Plans and implements schedules and assignments for custodial staff
Cleans and maintains County facilities
Identifies and reports repair needs and makes minor repairs
Performs grounds maintenance, including snow removal
Prepares facilities for special events
Prepares and maintains records and reports
May oversee outside vendor activities and monitor contract compliance
Performs related duties as assigned
Essential functions of this position include: driving; standing, lifting, crouching, reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, pushing, pulling, walking with in facility to clean and stock supplies, etc; working around other staff; working alone to do paperwork, scrubbing, pushing mops, dumping wastebaskets, etc; reading labels and warnings on chemicals, ability to communicate both written and verbally with staff and co-workers; must be able to lift 60 pounds; must be able to safely use ladders up to 12 feet in height.

Environmental conditions include: noise and vibrations from vacuums, floor equipment, lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc; hazards from mechanical or electrical; exposure to chemicals; atmospheric conditions-fumes, odors, dust, mist and gases; working in extreme or adverse weather conditions.Three years progressively responsible custodial or

maintenance

experience; OR any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must submit to a background search and successfully pass polygraph examination.

Must not have a felony conviction within previous ten years or dishonorable discharge from the military. Must not have a misdemeanor conviction involving domestic violence within previous five years. Must not have used dangerous or narcotic drugs in the past five years for more than experimentation.
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

3 years of custodial or maintenance experience or any combination. Experience in basic commercial building maintenance. Ability to work on a computer to maintain records, reports, and complete trainings. Effective managerial and supervisory skills are needed and ability to work various shifts including second shift, some weekends and holidays as needed.

This position is non-exempt from overtime.
This position is safety sensitive. Considerable knowledge of:

Materials, equipment and procedures used in custodial operations
Occupational hazards and safety precautions

Working knowledge of:

Principles and practices of effective supervision
Basic math skills to determine quantities of required cleaning materials and supplies

Skill in:

Operation and maintenance of custodial equipment
Use of computer and word processing systems
Basic Commercial Building Maintenance

Ability to:
Plan, organize, and supervise a crew performing cleaning and repairs of facilities
Effectively handle lifting of objects weighing up to 60 pounds
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Prepare and maintain records and reports
Work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
Follow written and verbal instructions
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
