Pay Rate: $21-22/hour Job Description: As a Freight Customer Service specialist, you will be responsible for verifying and auditing freight invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual terms. Your role will involve analyzing transportation costs, identifying discrepancies, and working closely with carriers and internal teams to resolve issues promptly. You will play a key part in optimizing transportation expenses and maintaining high standards of financial control and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Audit Freight Invoices: Review and audit freight invoices for accuracy, ensuring rates, charges, and discounts align with contractual agreements. Identify and investigate discrepancies, such as incorrect rates, missing discounts, or unauthorized charges. Ensure smooth processing of carrier invoices through accounting and logistics processes. Resolve Billing Issues: Collaborate with carriers and internal stakeholders to resolve billing discrepancies and disputes in a timely manner. Communicate effectively to negotiate settlements and ensure corrections are made promptly. Reconcile and process invoices, statements, and accounts payable/receivable regularly. General Responsibilities: Verify receipt, price, and quantity of all products and services received; code and input outstanding invoices into systems (DataStream & SAP) for payment; verify computer batch reports for input accuracy. Obtain rates from external haulers and set up new haulers for bulk and packaged Cement, Aggregate, Fly Ash, and Block. Maintain all hauler rates in SAP and Real-Time Freight. Work closely with the admin team to ensure new contracts are set up in SAP. Maintain fuel surcharge conditions in SAP. Update JWS with new hauler information. Create new customer lanes in Real Time Freight. Support and backup customer service team. Provide administrative support to the Logistics Manager. Process Improvement: Continuously review audit processes and procedures to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. Recommend and implement improvements to billing and audit workflows to optimize accuracy and effectiveness. Relationship Management: Develop and maintain positive relationships with carriers, vendors, and internal teams involved in freight and logistics. Act as a point of contact for freight billing inquiries and issues, providing exceptional customer service and support. Required Experience: Previous experience in freight audit, accounts payable, transportation billing, logistics operations, or a related field. Bilingual: English and Spanish. Experience in the Building Materials industry for at least 3 years (Cement, Aggregate, Fly Ash, and Block). High School diploma or equivalent, plus 1–3 years of job-related experience. Nice-to-Have Experience: Experience using SAP systems for Logistics/Supply Chain operations. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel – VLOOKUP function). Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Work Environment: Fast-paced office environment with regular use of computers and software systems. Occasional communication and coordination with external vendors and carriers.
