This position is responsible for studying cells to detect evidence of cancer, hormonal abnormalities, and other pathological conditions following established standards and practices; and required to perform high-complexity testing, including microscopic evaluation of Thin Prep gynecologic cytology specimens, using established protocols using the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility. Experience with Thin Prep Pap Smears is required.Job Description:Schedule: Flexible, Day or NightJob Duties/Responsibilities:Under the general supervision of the section supervisor/manager, the cytologist performs all laboratory procedures in a prompt, and reliable manner, according to established departmental policies and procedures.* Screen and evaluate any gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens sent to the laboratory for the determination of possible malignant or related abnormal conditions* Screening of all liquid based cytology, both manual and imaged, as well as conventional slides* Perform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens following laboratory procedures and workload policies* Ensure proper documentation of workload recording, including screening and non-screening activities as required by CLIA and laboratory guidelines* Maintain absolute integrity in the accurate performance and reporting of results* Meet slide screening requirements as per standard operating procedure* Finalize testing results into the computer in an accurate and timely manner* Provide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as needed* Comply with all safety, infection control and HIPAA policies* Cross-training with Cytogenetic FISH testing*Requirements** Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university* Successful competition of an accredited Cytology program* ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification is required* Prior experience working in Cytology is preferred* ThinPrep certification required* ThinPrep Imager certification is a plus* Must pass slide screening requirements and annual CAP proficiency test* Demonstrated understanding of Cytology preparation techniques* Automated and non-automated testing experience is preferred* Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)* Ability to work independently or within a team* Highly organized and strong attention to detail* Strong communication skills; both written and verbal* Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screenJob Types: Full-time, Part-timeExpected hours: 30 – 40 per weekBenefits:* 401(k)* 401(k) matching* Bereavement leave* Dental insurance* Family leave* Free parking* Health insurance* Life insurance* Military leave* Paid holidays* Paid sick time* Paid time off* Paid training* Safety equipment provided* Vision insuranceSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Day shift* Evening shift* Night shiftLicense/Certification:* CT (ASCP) certification or license (Required)Ability to Relocate:* Eatontown, NJ 07724: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person
