Summary Position Highlights: Performs screening and interpretation of all cytopathology samples including fine needle aspirations, exfoliative non-gynecologic samples and gynecologic samples. Provides assistance to the physicians during the performance of fine needle aspirations making direct smear preparations and performing an adequacy interpretation if necessary. The Ideal Candidate: Has a Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology. Has demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of a cytopathology department including the collection, processing and interpretation of cytopathologic samples. Responsibilities: Screen and interpret all cytopathologic samples excluding intraoperative touch imprint evaluation cases. Provide assistance to clinicians/pathologists with the collection of specimens, predominately FNA's. Performs the required computer functions relevant to the cytology department such as accessioning and resulting. Performs cytologic-histologic correlation of all available cytology samples. Credentials and Qualifications: Florida state license in Cytology required. ASCP certification preferred. 3 years previous cytology experience preferred.
