Data Center Technician

Optomi, in partnership with our financial client, is seeking a Datacenter Technician This role is onsite in downtown Chicago and is 3rd shift, 10:30pm-6:30am.
Responsibilities Serve as the primary escalation point for critical incidents or technical issues.
Execute Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) in Data Centers, Meet Point of Entry (MPOE), Main Distribution Rooms (MMR), and access centers for both internal and external stakeholders.
Manage updates to asset records, ensuring accurate tracking and categorization of assets based on their location and status (e.g., deployed, decommissioned).
Conduct daily inspections to verify compliance with security and access protocols, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the Data Center.
Perform quality assurance checks in Data Center Halls and access centers.
Document all hardware deliveries received from Supply & Receiving (S&R).
Oversee inventory of Data Center supplies (including copper/fiber patch cables, cleaning accessories, cable labels, etc.)
and generate appropriate reports.
Knowledge and Experience Familiarity with hardware manufacturer installation standards, along with expertise in copper and fiber cabling installations, with a preference for the following qualifications: Certified Data Center Technician (CDCT) HP Accredited Platform Specialist Systimax Copper Installation (ND5541) Systimax Installation & Maintenance (ND3341) Corning NPI Membership ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate BICSI Practices and Procedures At least 1 year of experience in Data Center environments.
Basic knowledge of networking and experience with Arista, Ciena, Juniper, and Dell hardware.
Understanding of IP networking principles.
Experience in an ITIL-controlled environment, with knowledge of Change Control and Incident Management processes.
Minimum of 1 year's experience using Microsoft Office and CRM databases.
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Proven advanced troubleshooting skills, with the ability to communicate issues and solutions to peers and escalate as necessary.
Capability to manage third-party contractors working within the Data Center.
Strong collaborative skills, able to function effectively as a member of a self-managed work team, in rotational assignments, or as part of a project team.
Proficient written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
