POSITION TITLE:
DATA COMMUNICATIONS – PROJECT SPECIALIST
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Coordinates and manages Data Communications Projects for all District Departmental and School Sites; Provides support and management services to District - LAN Infrastructures and Audio/Visual Distribution Systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides Project planning, design, coordination and management of District – LAN Installations and Upgrades with APS Departmental and School Site entities, including APS – Contractors and Vendors. Provides configurations and support services to District – LAN Infrastructures and maintenance of structured cabling systems. Provides enforcement of NEC Codes and implementation support of Data Communications Distribution Standards. Provides assistance in documenting and record keeping of Scope of Work's, As-Builts, Manufacture Warranties and Cabling Certifications. Provides assistance in research and development of District Networking and A/V Standards and solutions. Provides technical support to site-based Administrative and Technology Staff. Communicates and coordinates with administration, faculty and staff about any events concerning enterprise cabling changes or updates. Provides high quality customer service to all APS customers. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
CommScope Certified CompTIA - Network + Certified New Mexico Electrical Journeyman's License EE98J Experience in computer networking environments Experience in switch configuration REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma and 4 years of directly related cabling experience (comparability will be reviewed on an individual basis). BICSI RCDD Installer Level I Certified or New Mexico's Electrical Journeyman's License, ES-07J If candidate does not have the two certifications listed above, candidate must be able to achieve successful certification within 2 years from date of hire. Satisfactory completion of pre-employment physical examination. Valid New Mexico Driver's License with Liability insured vehicle-field position. Highly effective communication skills, both verbal, written and electronic. Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem solving skills. Interpersonal and collaborative skills with District Departments, School sites and Vendors. Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects. Knowledge of the following software applications types: Word Processor, Database, Spreadsheet, Email, CAD Knowledge of network design and planning, network security and management Knowledge of computers and peripheral devices, networking equipment and A/V systems.
