Accurately enters data to computer files or database systems by typing or scanning.
Create large spreadsheets or data tables in spreadsheet, database, word processing, statistical or business software without mistakes.
Verify data entry by checking own work or the work of others by comparing it to source documents.
Updates existing sets of data.
Retrieves data from a database or electronic files as requested.
Perform regular backups to ensure entered data is saved.
Organizes and files source paperwork after entering data.
Photocopy, scan, organize alphabetize and file paper documents.
Fast, accurate keyboarding is required.
Working knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets such as MS Office Word and Excel.
Working knowledge of office equipment, desktop hardware and peripheral devices such as printers and copiers.
Basic understanding of databases and spreadsheets.
Good command of English, with good customer service skills.
Great attention to detail.

Job-Specific Responsibilities: The Shorenstein Center and the Public Interest Tech Lab are looking for detail-oriented and highly motivated individuals to serve as Data Clerical Assistants for our FBarchive research initiatives (FBarchive.org).
Individuals in this position will work closely with the team at the Public Interest Tech Lab as well Founding Director, Dr. Latanya Sweeney.
Duties and Responsibilities (included, but not limited to) • Becoming facile with all aspects of the user experience of the archive; • Attaining a modest understanding of the subject matter found in the FBarchive; • Attending scheduled FBarchive Data Team meetings via Zoom; • Attending scheduled Public Interest Tech Lab meetings via Zoom; • Gaining a general sense of the history, purpose, and uses of the archive; • Understanding the privacy and safety concerns inherent in the archive; • Working with the Tech Lab team to create and implement established curation protocols where that is deemed necessary; • Liaising with FBarchive Research Project Administrator and Public Interest Tech Lab Manager about HR issues; • Succinctly communicating concerns regarding the presentation of the necessary content to the end-level user; Note: This position is a full time, benefits-eligible, 6-month term appointment.
Basic Qualifications • Proven experience as a data entry clerk • Fast typing skills • Excellent knowledge of word processing tools • Working knowledge of office equipment • Basic understanding of databases • Demonstrated sound work ethic and attention to details.
• Must be able to interact professionally with all levels of staff, faculty, potential donors, and the public.
