Responsibilities Typical duties for this position include:
Managing client projects including maintaining project planners, delegating tasks to other staff, coordinating third parties, and supervising meetingsDesigning and implementing ISP network topologies including routers, switches, packet optical transport, and FTTx access equipmentPerforming network hardening and architecture assessmentsEvaluating networking equipment and software solutions for clients including Request for Proposal (RFP) projectsCollaborate with team members across the networking, managed services, and IT security groupsProvide escalation/mentoring role for Specialist staff membersDiagnosing and remediating ISP network problems and outagesEscalate network issues to vendor Technical Assistance Centers (TAC) and collaborate on resolutionsRespond to and resolve customer service requests in a prompt, efficient and courteous mannerDevelop Method of Procedures (MOP), configuration scripts, and supporting documentation for scheduled network maintenancePerform periodic network maintenance including software upgrades, cutovers, intrusive changes, and diagnosticsManaging and documenting configuration changes and network architectures with tools including Excel, Word, and VisioDescribing technical information to non-technical individualsContinuously monitor industry trends, and applies this knowledge to the position Candidates should be self-motivated, reliable, resourceful, professional, and exhibit good judgement.
Competencies Attention to detail (ie, proofreading, data, communications, etc.)Ability to communicate confidently with both clients and team membersStrong written communication across multiple platforms (ie, email, reports, etc.)Proficiency in common Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Teams Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field is required.Route/switch experience with Cisco, Arista, or Juniper equipmentPacket optical transport experience with Ribbon, Ciena, or Fujitsu (Preferred)Understanding of network protocols including BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VLANs, and xSTPBasic understanding of ISP services including DHCP, DNS, PPPOE, and RADIUSMinimum three years of experience in network design and administration roleCCNA/JNCIS or similar certification (Preferred)
