The Underwriting Compliance Analyst reports to the Director of Classification & Underwriting. In this role they administer and interpret the rules and procedures of the Pennsylvania and Delaware Basic Manual (excluding classification administration and interpretation) because of inquiries from carriers, insurance agents, insureds, legal representatives of insureds and other interested external parties. The Underwriting Compliance Analyst also uses the rules of the Experience Rating Plan to administer, interpret and communicate ownership change rulings. Key priorities include analyzing confidential ownership information and articulating decisions completely and effectively to all involved parties. Required skills include the ability to research and analyze a broad spectrum of information related to various kinds of business operations, the ability to make decisions based on provided and solicited information in conjunction with Basic Manual provisions, and the ability to communicate the basis of those decisions to key constituencies. Duties of the role include responding to mail, telephone and e-mail inquiries from carriers, insurance agents, insureds and legal representatives of insureds regarding ownership information and Basic Manual rules. Complex ownership and Basic Manual rule interpretations are escalated to the Senior Underwriting Compliance Analysts. This position requires an individual with excellent decision-making capabilities, research abilities and the ability to work as part of a team.
Administer & interpret the rules of the Pennsylvania and Delaware Basic Manuals as they apply to inquiries from carriers, insurance agents, insureds, legal representatives, and other interested external parties.Respond to inquiries related to the sale, acquisition, and mergers of business entities in Pennsylvania and Delaware.Research issues pertaining to ownership rulings using internal and external resources.Create letters to request and collect additional information related to ownership changes.Explain and defend ownership change ruling decisions, primarily in writing, to all involved parties.Consult with Management before issuing decisions that potentially have a negative impact on the involved risk(s).Do maintenance to combine or separate files because of ownership change rulings to ensure the files are appropriately established in our internal database.Respond in a timely manner to written and telephone inquiries, both from external and internal parties.Analyze confidential ownership information to determine permissible and/or required entity combinability based on the provisions of the Pennsylvania and Delaware Basic Manuals.Provide written & oral communication to carriers, insurance agents, insureds and legal representatives of insureds demonstrating sound decision making.Work independently with the ability to adapt to various situations on a daily basis while managing conflicting priorities.Review internally and externally generated inquiries regarding coverage requirements as permitted under the provisions of the Pennsylvania and Delaware Basic Manuals. Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested.Knowledge of PCRB/DCRB operations & Pennsylvania & Delaware Basic Manuals rules a plus.Requirements: Education: College degree required or equivalent work experience. Insurance course work a plus.
Experience: 0-3 years' experience in professional office setting required; Industry experience a plus.
Skills Required: Strong organizational, communication, written, analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to work independently but also as part of a team and adapt to various situations is a must. Requires persuasive communications skills with the ability to convey decisions and viewpoints in a constructive and informative manner. Employee must possess the ability to manage multiple assignments and ability to prioritize tasks accordingly. Strict attention to detail and accuracy is required. PC proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, ACCESS and Outlook required. Communicate effectively with all levels of PCRB/DCRB personnel and outside contacts.
Work Hours: Normal PCRB Hybrid Flextime is available. Employee must be flexible when needed as projects or deadlines may sometimes necessitate extended hours.
