Chewy's Transportation Team is seeking a Data Scientist II to join the growing Transportation Systems Team in Bellevue, WA. Combining a background in Supply Chain with a deep understanding of analytics and data science, you will be a part of a team responsible for strategic forecasting and research initiatives centered around our operations and planning capabilities. This includes retrieving data from different resources and implement forecasting models to produce accurate predictions and root causing the forecast misses. The Transportation Team operates in a fast-paced environment where every day brings new challenges and new opportunities. You will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions and technologies which will handle the growing business needs and play a key role in redefining what it means to be a world-class organization.
What You'll Do:
Partner with demand planning, supply planning, operations, and transportation to provide best in-class forecast to support mission critical cross functional planning and execution of functional areas including but not limited to Supply Chain, Transportation, and Network Engineering
Assess, interpret, and analyze the data in development of a thorough, accurate, and supportable demand forecast for use in power requirements and capacity planning. Analytic skills must include the ability to see the big picture and the demonstration of strong business intuition
Leverage statistical models and machine learning tools to scientifically quantify macro changes in the market and by the business to answer key growth challenges related to network planning
Develop data driven, insightful analyses to answer questions, with a focus on root-causing, address business challenges, identify opportunities and provide/execute actionable recommendation
Enable Chewy management to make informed, data-based decisions by providing business analyses and analytical support, particularly in areas where data is difficult to access / unreliable and where a high level of analytical skill is required
Drive continuous improvement in forecasting process and methodology. Work with Operations, IT, and Finance to leverage capabilities of ERP system and other planning tools. Direct the utilization of forecasting methods and software tools to deliver and monitor forecast accuracy. Continually seek, report, evaluate, and make recommendations to leadership to improve forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes within Chewy
Analyze supply chain data and information to shape strategic supply chain decision using enhanced BI tools and reporting
Develop BI solutions to report business health and execution for leadership review
What You'll Need:
An advanced degree (M.S. or equivalent experience) in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field
2-4 years supply chain and forecasting or demand planning experience
Ability to understand and apply advanced mathematics
SQL mastery
Python experience and mastery
Experience working with Predictive Models (Time Series Models, Linear Regression, advanced ML models)
Experience working within the AWS ecosystem
Ability to translate complex data sets and research into simple business recommendations
Ability to compile information into unified reports
Ability to manage multiple projects
Ability to use BI tools (Tableau or similar)
Ability to use collaborative programming tools (Git, Confluence, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Position may require up to 5% travel
Current permanent U.S. work authorization is required
Bonus:
Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team
E-com, Retail or startup experience is a plus
Compensation & Benefits:
Our pay range for a Data Scientist II position is $115,500.00 - $183,500.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
