The nursing process is used to train, assess, make recommendations about and evaluate care of assigned individuals.
Essential Functions:Provides maintenance of monthly medical notes, nursing assessments and other documentation related to medication use, general health status, and emergency procedures for assigned caseload.Consults with physicians, pharmacies and other medical personnel on individual needs and relays necessary treatment information to staff to ensure follow-up on such needs.Conducts monthly observations of individuals identified with acute/significant medical needs and follows for Medical Services review, providing documentation as applicable/required.Provides consultation and practical advice to management and staff regarding routine medical issues and concerns.Provides state approved Medication Administration training for staff as required by DC state law.Assesses staff needs regarding medication administration protocols and develops programs to minimize staff medication errors.Assists management in evaluating staff compliance with DC State medication management regulations according to physician's instruction and state law.Performs other job related duties as assigned.Secondary Functions:Serves as member of DC management team.
Represents SJCS in external disability related medical associations as requestedAssists in the annual development and quarterly implementation of SJCS Medical Services Committee competency-based training as well as other training as identified.
Serves as member of the Medication Administration Review Committee (MARC) for assigned region.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation and Experience: Current Registered Nurse license in DC/DMV required; Certified Developmental Disability Nurse (CDDN) certification is a plus.Requires 2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or pervasive development disorders or 2 years of experience working as a Community Based Nurse.Experience with or working knowledge of DC regulations preferred.
Must meet SJCS and funding jurisdiction current requirements for criminal background/records check.
Valid health certificate to meet current funding jurisdiction requirements.
Valid state-issued driver's license with current driving record in good standing required.
