DESCRIPTION As a member of the Dean's Office Academic Personnel team, this position will analyze academic files at both the Dean's Office and Departmental levels. For the Dean's Office AP team, conduct independent review and analysis of assigned academic appointment and review files for Senate Faculty, Unit 18 Lecturers, and Academics such as Research Scientists, Project Scientists, and Academic Coordinators, ensuring compliance with campus and University policy and procedure while making recommendations for resolution of problems. Provide counsel regarding academic and temporary academic personnel issues and actions to departmental chairs, staff, Dean, and other campus administrators. Compose and/or edit a wide variety of correspondence for the signature of the Dean. Participate in the development, analysis, and implementation of new policies.

In addition, the Academic HR Analyst will provide Academic Personnel support at the department level and act as the AP Partner for all Physical Sciences department AP staff. Independently responsible for managing all aspects of academic personnel actions. Provides guidance, analysis, interpretation, and recommendations to the chair, faculty, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and the Human Resources Manager on matters involving academic personnel administration, including recruitment, advancement, compensation, benefits, leaves of absence, faculty relations, and visa/immigration issues for all professorial titles. Analyzes and formulates policy and procedures for departmental academic personnel activities. Participates in faculty meetings to provide policy interpretation, historical data, and exception analysis. Initiates and coordinates recruitment efforts, appointments, advancements, visas, and recalls. Ensures compliance with Academic Affirmative Action requirements. Reviews, assesses, and recommends revisions to existing policies and procedures; develops and formulates changes. Interacts with Academic Personnel staff throughout the general campus, SIO, and UC Health for joint appointments. Serves as the primary point of contact for Academic Personnel Services (APS) and the Physical Sciences Dean's office on matters related to faculty.

This is a hybrid position, which will require 2 onsite days per week. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. Must be willing to work additional hours during peak times and/or flexible schedule to accommodate business needs. QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the analysis and interpretation of higher institution policies, practices, and procedures (College/Campus/University preferred) for academic personnel and their application to all academic titles. Knowledge of the academic process and experience managing a broad scope of complex personnel and related functions including academic personnel and academic recruitments. Knowledge of human resources management systems and other related business software programs and systems. Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to Chairs/unit management. Critical thinking and applied problem-solving skills to research and analyze complex information and/or problems related to academic personnel in an objective manner. Proven ability to develop logical conclusions and recommend sound and creative solutions. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills to communicate and handle difficult, sensitive, and/or confidential matters in a pleasant, diplomatic, effective, and expedient manner. Strong organizational skills to coordinate large volumes of work, establish priorities, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated excellent writing skills to independently compose and edit documents effectively. Demonstrated experience in maintaining the confidentiality of personnel or other sensitive data and issues and exercising discretion in dealing with controversial or potentially sensitive topics. Demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse group of people and clientele. Computer skills to quickly and accurately produce reports, correspondence, proposals, etc. Mathematical skills sufficient to calculate or evaluate non-standard salaries and levels of additional compensation. Demonstrated ability to interpret policies and procedures, propose solutions, and apply them to non-recurring situations. Ability to diplomatically persevere in assisting academics to meet established deadlines. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Job offer is contingent upon a satisfactory clearance based on FBI and DOJ background check results. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $63,800 - $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.56 - $53.45
