DescriptionPosition Objective: To assist customers in their shopping experience by leading the Deli team in a way that promotes growth for the company and delivers the product and service Cosentino's customers have come to expect. This position is an understudy of the Deli Manager and Perishable Manager. Reporting Structure: This position formally reports to the Deli Manager.
Status: This is an exempt position.

A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.A valid driver's license is required for deliveries.At least one year of experience in Catering, including networking, coordination, preparation, event design, and event staging.At least 1 year of formal culinary experience or a degree in Culinary Arts or Management from an accredited school or university.At least 2 years of supervisory experience in general food service or hospitality management, including direct supervision of greater than 10 employees.Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino's Learning Plan.SkillsThe following is a list of the basic skill requirements for this position:
Essential Job FunctionsIn the absence of the Deli Manager, provide direct supervision of the deli team.Clearly communicate departmental goals and implement plans to reach them.Promote a positive team atmosphere.Assist in conducting effective interviews to hire quality candidates.Provide coaching, corrective actions, and performance evaluations.Assist with employee relations issues.Manage labor costs effectively.Practice effective inventory management.Know and practice rotation procedures for product dates.Enforce quality control measures for deli products.Promote department sales through effective merchandising techniques.Meet or exceed productivity standards.Resolve customer complaints professionally.Implement Cosentino's Customer Service Standards.Comply with health regulations and safety procedures.Ensure the department is clean, fully stocked, and creatively merchandised.Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills.Demonstrate basic math and reading skills required for the position.Non-Essential Job FunctionsAssist in managing labor costs.Prepare, package, and label products for sale.Communicate with management regarding deli issues.Ensure cleanliness and setup of preparation areas.Unload incoming shipments and stock them appropriately.Complete additional tasks as identified by management.Physical AbilitiesThe following physical movements could be part of any scheduled shift:
Essential AbilitiesReaching overhead with both arms up to 74 inches, twisting at the waist, and lifting objects weighing up to 20 lbs.Pushing and pulling grocery items as needed, up to a peak force of 50 lbs.Standing and walking for long periods on hard surfaces.Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.Bending and squatting.Able to work in colder conditions of grocery coolers and freezers.Non-Essential AbilitiesClimbing a ladder, possibly up to 5ft.
