The VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System is recruiting for a full-time, term-limited (Not to Exceed 4 years) Dentist to support the Homeless Veterans Dental Initiative (HVDI). The VA Finger Lakes is comprised of two Medical Centers in Bath and Canandaigua, NY, and a large outpatient clinic in Rochester, NY. The Bath and Canandaigua Medical Centers are nestled in the Finger Lakes region of NY, and Rochester is a thriving upstate city on the shores of Lake Ontario. Come join our team today!
Minimum Requirements: A degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery or dental medicine resulting from a course of education in dentistry. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.Completed, or currently completing, a residency program in general practice or specialty, or comparable experience as a dentist actively involved in treating medically compromised patients.Currently hold, or will hold, a current, full and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.Physical Requirements: See VA Directive and Handbook 5019.
Duties: Proficiency and productivity in all areas of General Dentistry including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, and oral surgery.Excellent diagnostic skills and the ability to triage, diagnose, and manage a broad spectrum of urgent and chronic dental problems in a patient population with a high percentage of medically compromised individuals.Provide professional guidance to dental hygienists and dental laboratory technicians.Provide mentorship to dental team, residents, and students.Practice in accordance with accepted professional standards, organizational values, and with a commitment to excellent customer service.Possess computer skills, good work ethics, administrative skills, and be able to function productively in a clinical environment.Perform other related duties as assigned.Occasional travel to the Rochester and Canandaigua sites of care.Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm.
