The facility provides care to approximately 91,000 veterans in the midlands and upstate SC. CBOCs are located in Anderson, Greenville, Spartanburg, Florence, Orangeburg, Sumter, and Rock Hill, providing primary care, mental health, and telemedicine services.
Basic Requirements: A degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery or dental medicine from an approved school.Completion, or currently completing, a residency program in general practice or specialty, or comparable experience treating medically compromised patients.Current, full and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.Preferred Experience: Completion of (or currently completing) a residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.Board eligible or boarded by the American Board of Oral & Maxillary Surgery.Physical Requirements: Light carrying, under 15 pounds; reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required.Both eyes required; depth perception; ability to distinguish basic colors; ability to distinguish shades of colors; hearing (aid permitted); mental and emotional stability.The Oral Maxillofacial Surgery dental officer serves as a practicing dentist performing a full range of professional dental procedures. Responsibilities include:
Dentoalveolar surgery and complex dental extractions.Treatment of orofacial infections and trauma.Pre-prosthetic surgery and placement of dental implants.Diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular dysfunction and oral and maxillofacial pathosis.Surgical reconstruction of oral-facial anomalies and treatment of cosmetic defects.Management of medically complex patients, including inpatients.Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm (subject to change based on agency needs).
