Our Department Manager is responsible for providing outstanding customer service. The role supports overall department operations by providing employee orientation and development, scheduling coverage, managing performance, leading by example when assisting customers and finding ways to improve the service provided by JAX. Duties include coordinating with the buyers team to provide feedback on products, visual merchandising with product displays, managing inventory, stocking, and organizing the department. Additional tasks include:
Creating schedules two weeks in advanceEnsuring coverage by working with employees or stepping up to fill gaps when necessaryProviding honest and informative answers about our productsAddressing loss prevention concernsParticipating in inventory responsibilitiesAssembling new stockMaintaining a clean and well-stocked areaCompleting record-keeping and creating reportsCompleting special ordersCoordinating with others to plan for sales and promotionsEnsuring proper documentation and pricing of productsWorking to engage and inspire teamwork with department employeesOur ideal candidate is experienced in retail management, is willing to pitch in and help, is well-organized, takes initiative, communicates well, and has an engaging and positive approach to customer service. Knowledge, skills, and abilities desired for this position include:
Previous knowledge and interest in hunting, fishing, or military equipment preferredPrior top-notch customer service experiencePrior retail lead or supervisory experienceComfort and adaptability with learning new technology or computer systemsAbility to be flexible and work retail hoursEngaging and positiveEffective trouble-shooting skillsAbility to present and maintain a professional demeanorSchedule Requirements: Must be available at least one weekend day and at least one week nightFlexible availability requiredPay Range: $18.00 to $20.00 an hour
