**Position Overview:** As the Streets Superintendent, you will oversee the planning, organization, and supervision of all activities related to the maintenance, repair, and construction of public streets and associated infrastructure. Additionally, you will manage the Streets and Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. You will also be responsible for overseeing all parks maintenance activities, including mowing, trimming, and general upkeep.
**Key Responsibilities:** - Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance programs to preserve the integrity of streets, sidewalks, and associated infrastructure, ensuring safe and accessible public spaces.
- Coordinate and prioritize work assignments for crews engaged in street repair, resurfacing, and construction projects, while managing the Streets and MFT budgets effectively.
- Monitor and maintain budgets for streets and MFT funds, tracking expenditures and preparing financial reports as required.
- Oversee all parks maintenance activities, including mowing, trimming, landscaping, and general upkeep, to ensure clean, attractive, and safe public spaces.
- Assess street and park conditions to identify maintenance needs and recommend appropriate interventions, collaborating with other departments and stakeholders as needed.
- Manage the procurement of materials, equipment, and contracted services necessary for street and parks maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate staff to promote a culture of excellence, safety, and teamwork within the streets and parks divisions.
- Foster positive relationships with community members, addressing concerns and promoting community engagement in maintenance and improvement efforts.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and budgets related to streets, MFT, and parks maintenance activities.
**Qualifications:** - At least five years of progressively responsible experience in public works, with a focus on street maintenance and construction.
- Experience managing budgets and financial resources, particularly in the management of Streets and MFT funds.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and financial management software.
- Valid driver's license (preferred CDL Class B w/airbrakes) and the ability to obtain appropriate certifications as required.
