Introduction
The Delaware's Attorney General, the State's chief law enforcement officer, has a broad responsibility to combat crime, uphold civil rights, safeguard families, fight fraud, and protect consumers in the First State.
In meeting this mission, Attorney General Kathy Jennings is supported by teams of talented lawyers and staff in the Criminal, Civil, Family, Fraud and Consumer Protection, and Civil Rights and Public Trust Divisions.
Each of the more than 500 staff who work in the Office of the Attorney General are dedicated to serving all Delawareans with integrity and passion.
Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.
Summary Statement
The Delaware Department of Justice, Civil Division, Departments & Agencies Unit, seeks a Deputy Attorney General to primarily represent the Public Service Commission ("Commission and Staff").
This position may be located in either Kent or New Castle County with travel to Kent County as needed.

Pay Grade A14 DAG II: Salary Range $86,100/min - $90,300/max
Pay Grade A16 DAG III: Salary Range $95,095/min - $99,360/max
Pay Grade A18 DAG IV: Salary Range $104,535/min - $109,710/max
Pay Grade A20 DAG V: Salary Range $115,920/min - $120,510/max
Essential Functions
Advising the Commission and Staff on legal and regulatory matters brought before the Commission and Staff;
Drafting orders, reviewing filings, and memorializing case decisions;
Communicating with utilities regarding regulatory matters, including complaints, public utility statutes, regulations, and policies;
Responding to complaints from the public regarding utilities, often requiring interpretation of regulatory statutes, regulations, and utilities' tariffs;
Assisting the Commission and Staff, as well as outside counsel when outside counsel has been retained, in investigating and litigating rate cases and other utility regulatory issues, including trying cases before the hearing examiners and drafting briefs and motions in connection with such investigations and litigation;
Aiding the Commission and Staff in drafting proposed legislation to amend the Public Utility Act; reviewing proposed draft legislation to analyze impacts on the Public Service Commission;
Advising the Commission and Staff on legal and regulatory matters at the federal level, including matters pending before federal agencies overseeing utilities (e.g., electric transmission), and drafting comments or complaints to be filed with any federal regulatory agency;
Drafting proposed regulations to implement the Public Utility Act;
Advising the Commission and Staff on FOIA;
Other legal-related general duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
This DAG will handle additional assignments as directed by the State Solicitor, Deputy State Solicitor, Unit Head, or Assistant Unit Head.
Job Requirements
Membership in the Delaware Bar is required.
The DAG should be able to take a proactive approach to assisting its agency clients; therefore, a successful candidate should have the ability to work with State agencies to identify potential issues and assist State agencies to address such issues in order to minimize or avoid future legal action.
This DAG should be self-motivated, able to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with client agencies, and should have demonstrated legal ability and a thorough knowledge of relevant laws and court rules.
