The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) is seeking an experienced Deputy Director, Veteran Outreach to devise and implement national outreach efforts to the veteran community. The Deputy Director, Veteran Outreach will work directly with the National Outreach Team to recruit, engage, and mobilize members of USGLC's Veterans for Smart Power initiative in our efforts to support U.S. global engagement through civilian-led development and diplomacy programs. This position reports to the Deputy National Outreach Director, West and Military.
Veterans for Smart Power (VSP) is a nationwide network of veterans of all branches who believe in the importance of America's non-military tools. VSP gives veterans a voice in foreign policy by equipping them with the tools they need to educate and inspire the American public and policymakers on the importance of a "smart power" approach to national security.

Mobilizing Veteran Community. Work interdepartmentally to mobilize the veteran community to educate policymakers and the public about the importance of investing in smart power in the context of our national security.Strategic Planning. Leverage knowledge of the veteran community to enhance USGLC's strategic goals in a manner that will benefit the growth of the program. Additionally, identify ways in which the veteran community can influence Members of Congress and create strategic opportunities for engagement and advocacy.Enlisting and Engaging Veterans. Collaborate with the Senior Manager to build a nationwide network of veterans to advance USGLC's public policy agenda by organizing an active network of veterans across the country. Recruit, educate and engage veterans in strategic states and congressional districts, in coordination with other internal stakeholders. Actively participate in planning and hosting events and may include opportunities to speak and moderate at these events.Building Coalitions and Partnerships. In coordination with the Deputy National Outreach Director (West and Military), foster strategic partnerships with Veteran Service Organizations around the country to both make the case for development and diplomacy, as well as cultivate, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.Manage Effective Communications. Collaborate with the Communications Team to implement a strategy to educate and engage the USGLC veteran community. This will include developing messages, ongoing conference calls and electronic updates to elite veterans, and education events. The Deputy Director may speak in front of diverse audiences on behalf of the Veterans for Smart Power program and other USGLC initiatives.Help Veterans tell their stories. Through a variety of media and platforms, the Deputy Director will be responsible for helping USGLC's Veterans for Smart Power to tell their stories about why they believe that investing in diplomacy and development are important to America's national security. This includes helping to populate our Veterans for Smart Power Hub with content and creating a dynamic communications platform.Leadership and Operations. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Military and Veterans Outreach team and provide strategic planning support to ensure program success.Position RequirementsA veteran who has served in any branch of the U.S. Military who is a proven leader; veteran commissioned officer preferred.Recent experience – a minimum of five years – in political campaigns, coalition building and corporate environments. Ability to proactively engage prominent leaders in the political, business, faith-based, military, academic, and civic communities.A passion for international affairs with a bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, international relations, or another related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of degree requirements.Outstanding public speaking, oral and written communication, leadership and networking skills.Ability to conduct and succinctly write research and memoranda for internal and external audiences.Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, fluid, and flexible team environment.Ability and desire to travel domestically on a frequent basis.TO APPLYPlease email a cover letter and resume to ****** .
