The Deputy Regional Director for the Southeast Region will play a pivotal role in expanding and strengthening WFP's presence across the region, with a particular focus on Georgia. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in legislative advocacy, particularly at the Georgia State Capitol (Gold Dome) and within Atlanta's city politics. They will have deep-rooted relationships across the state and a proven track record of working at the intersection of criminal justice and electoral justice. This includes leading campaigns on criminal justice issues and running successful electoral campaigns. The Deputy Director will leverage these relationships to rapidly grow WFP's footprint and influence, particularly in areas related to criminal justice reform but across the progressive movement.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the Regional Director to develop and execute goals and work plans tailored to the Southeast region, with a strong emphasis on expanding WFP's presence in Georgia.Serve as a thought leader on criminal justice issues, using deep knowledge of the Georgia ecosystem to inform and guide WFP's regional strategy.Lead and manage staff responsible for executing large-scale field programs and canvasses, including those with 100+ staff, to ensure effective on-the-ground execution of WFP's campaigns.Build and maintain strong, high-level partnerships across the Southeast, particularly within Georgia and expansion states to activate and support issue and electoral campaigns including but not limited to labor priorities, candidate campaigns and criminal justice initiatives.Drive fundraising efforts for criminal justice initiatives, the Georgia Working Families portfolio and other regional projects, with a focus on expanding WFP's income streams through both electoral and complementary C3 programs.Manage and develop state staff, creating and executing state-specific plans, particularly for Georgia, and building political programs across the Southeast region.Cultivate and expand partnerships in Georgia and other Southeast states, informed by a broader regional strategy.Oversee and run the criminal justice initiative program within the Southeast, ensuring alignment with the organization's broader goals and regional strategy.Skills and QualificationsAt least 10 years of experience in electoral politics and advocacy with progressive responsibilities managing teams, fundraising and serving in senior campaign roles. Deep passion and commitment to social, economic, and racial justice, with specific expertise in criminal justice reform.Extensive experience in legislative advocacy within Georgia, with strong relationships at the state and city levels.Proven track record of running large-scale field programs and Independent Expenditure programs, with an understanding of the Georgia political ecosystem.Strong relationships across Georgia and the Southeast region, with the ability to leverage these connections to advance WFP's mission.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse range of stakeholders.JD preferred, with a strong understanding of the legal and political landscape in Georgia and across the south.Ability to manage and develop staff, execute state-specific plans, and drive successful campaigns in a complex and dynamic environment.What Else Should You KnowCompensation: The salary range for this role is $92,000 to $120,000. The final salary for this role will be determined based on our Pay Scale, which takes into consideration years of experience, geographic location, and final job description. The upper end of the salary range is reserved for individuals who significantly exceed the minimum qualifications and years of experience. We also offer a robust benefit package for full time employees including paid time off; health, dental, vision, and life insurance; flexible spending accounts; retirement plan options; professional development funding; and remote work support.Location and Travel: You may work remotely, but you must be located in or near Atlanta in order to attend in person meetings and events approximately 2 days per week. You may need to travel throughout the region for meetings, events and conferences to represent the Working Families Party.
