Background on the Environmental Integrity Project:  The Environmental Integrity Project is a growing nonprofit, watchdog organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. established in March of 2002 by former EPA enforcement attorneys. Our mission is to empower communities and protect public health and the environment by investigating polluters, holding them accountable under the law, and strengthening public policy. We advocate for stronger environmental standards, but also work with local communities to review and challenge permits and file citizen suits against polluters. Our litigation is complemented by data-rich reports that identify hidden sources of pollution, chronic violators, and loopholes in important monitoring requirements. We leverage existing laws to obtain significant greenhouse gas reductions, especially in low-income communities who are disproportionately affected by pollution.
