Location This is a local position based in the San Francisco Bay area. Next Gen Personal Finance has a hybrid work policy – local team members work from our Burlingame office two days (Tuesday/Thursday) a week.
Position Overview The Development Director will drive NGPF's fundraising efforts with an ambitious goal of raising $3.0 million annually. With a 10-year track record of accomplishments, including 100,000+ teachers using the NGPF curriculum and participating in professional development, NGPF has become a leader in equipping educators with the tools and knowledge needed to bring high-quality financial education to millions of students nationwide.

Background Founded in 2014, Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF) is a nonprofit and leader in the K-12 personal finance space, offering engaging personal finance curriculum and professional development at no cost, which is being used by more than 110,000 teachers across all 50 states.

Key Responsibilities: Fundraising Strategy and Execution Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve annual revenue goals of $3.0 million.Build and manage a portfolio of national foundations and high-net-worth donors, cultivating relationships that lead to six- and seven-figure commitments.Create tailored approaches to engage new prospects and retain existing donors.Major Gift Cultivation Identify, solicit, and steward major gift prospects, including individual philanthropists and national foundations focused on educationDevelop compelling proposals and presentations that align donor priorities with NGPF's mission.Grant Management Research and apply for relevant grants to support NGPF's mission and programs.Ensure timely reporting and compliance with grantor requirements.Donor Stewardship Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with donors through regular communication, impact reports, and personalized engagement strategies.Establish a robust donor recognition program.Operational and Strategic Leadership Set short- and long-term goals for fundraising and regularly evaluate progress.Collaborate with the leadership team to align fundraising goals with organizational priorities.Build internal systems and processes to track and analyze donor engagement and fundraising metrics effectively.Qualifications: Experience: At least 7–10 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a focus on major gifts and institutional giving. Proven success in securing six- and seven-figure gifts.Entrepreneurial Mindset: Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities.Leadership: Strong strategic planning skills and ability to set and achieve ambitious fundraising goals.Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling donor communications and presentations.Relationship Management: Skilled at cultivating relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporate partners, and foundation representatives.Tech Savvy: Proficiency with donor management systems, fundraising analytics, and data-driven decision-making.Passion for Mission: Deep commitment to advancing financial education.Benefits & Compensation The salary for this role is $175,000 to $225,000 commensurate with relevant experience. A comprehensive benefits package includes, but is not limited to: monthly healthcare stipend, monthly technology stipend, co-working stipend, learning & development stipend, laptop reimbursement, 18 paid vacation days (on top of 12 company-wide holidays), 12 weeks of paid parental leave, 401(k) matching contribution, and donation matching program.
