WCN's dedicated and diverse team values the people and relationships behind conservation as much as the science and strategy to save wildlife. We are looking for a professional with experience in communications/marketing who is ready to apply their experience to have an impact for wildlife. The Development Writer is responsible for creating content to help WCN staff cultivate, solicit, and steward donors on an individual basis. Key Responsibilities: Creating content for communications materials in direct support of WCN's fundraising and donor stewardship efforts. Materials include, but may not be limited to:
ProposalsStewardship and impact reportsConcept notes providing overview of WCN's programs with fundraising pitchPresentations for donor meetings (pitch decks)Fundraising appeals and donor engagement emails and lettersEvent invitations and emailsDonor-specific collateral such as planned giving brochure Other communications as needed Experience and Skills: 3+ years in a development or fundraising capacity.Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to transform information into compelling pitches. Strong editing skills.Proven track record of producing compelling written materials that resonate with high-level donors and stakeholders.Competency in Powerpoint, Google Slides, and Keynote.A strong ability to find pragmatic solutions and proactively seek improvements to benefit a small team. Excellent project management skills with superior attention to detail.Highly collaborative style and strong interpersonal skills to thrive in a collaborative team-oriented culture. Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of projects concurrently. Compensation and benefits: Compensation is expected to be in the $85,000-$95,000 range based on qualifications and experience. In addition, benefits include: medical, dental, vision insurance contributions, chiropractic/acupuncture, basic life insurance, AD&D, Health FSA and Dependent care (pre-tax payroll dollars), a retirement plan where WCN matches 100% of employee's contribution up to 5% of employee's salary, 11 paid holidays with 1 paid floating holiday, 15 days of paid vacation in the first year (+1 day per year worked), paid sick leave, commuter benefits program, and an employee discount program.
WCN is headquartered in San Francisco, and a hybrid work model would be preferred, fostering a balance between in-office and remote work. However, we recognize the importance of flexibility and will consider exceptional candidates in a fully remote setup.
