General Summary:Under the direction of the Medical Imaging supervisor and according to detailed instructions, policies and procedures, receives and sorts incoming radiology requests and other departmental materials.
Schedules, prepares and performs data entry of patient information for patients requiring imaging services.
Performs general clerical duties such as answering phones, taking and relaying messages and requests for copying films, as well as general assistance to patients and their families, and exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.Other information:Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to deal efficiently and courteously with patients, physicians and all hospital personnel.
Excellent verbal and computer skills to facilitate scheduling and accurate patient information.
Entry level High School or Equivalent GED education.
Computer, verbal and written skills.
Knowledge of EPIC, phone systems and scanners provided during departmental orientation.Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
Hand dexterity for computer work.
Full body mobility to assist patients.
Visual and Auditory requirements for patient, phone and computer work.

Uses the computer system to access patient information and process information for patient procedures.

Schedules patient exams for all areas of medical imaging and provides correct and precise patient prep instructions if indicated.

Verifies insurance and appropriate diagnosis for scheduling purposes.4.
Contacts ordering physician offices for pre-certification numbers.5.
Greets patients, reviews request for complete information, and directs patients to the appropriate dressing/waiting areas.6.
Provides report information to physician offices according to established HIPPA regulations.7.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.8.
According to established hospital policies, processes the appropriate forms and has the patients complete the forms for obtaining films, reports or other hospital records.

Works effectively as part of the department to facilitate the department's ability to provide quality customer service.10.
