About The Position **Job Title:** Clinical Technician, Dialysis **Job Specialty:** - **Job Duration:** 13 Weeks **Shift:** Day - 3x12 - 11am - 11pm **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 Hours **Experience:** 2 years of experience required **License:** N/A **Certifications:** Dialysis clinical technician certification required. Certification must be maintained in accordance with federal regulations. **Must-Have:** - High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree in science preferred - Previous dialysis experience preferred - Ability to pass a color vision test **Job Description:** - Monitor and provide direct care to patients on hemodialysis under nursing staff supervision. - Communicate ongoing patient information to appropriate team members. - Respond to emergency situations. - Reinforce patient education. - Document patient care and observations, such as flow sheets and incident reports. - Follow operational activities specific to the assigned unit, including call-in times and breaks. - Treat patients and families with respect and dignity. - Wear designated attire and maintain proper hygiene while on duty. - Communicate effectively with other departments or service organizations. - Function as part of a multidisciplinary team. - Plan and execute work activities efficiently. - Carry out doctors' orders within the role's parameters. - Adhere to infection control policies and procedures, such as hand washing and the use of face shields and gloves. - Help minimize waste within the assigned unit. - Adjust dialysis therapy within scope of practice to meet patient needs alongside team members. - Serve as a resource referral for patients. - Apply problem-solving methodologies to benefit patients and the care area, within scope of authority. - Maintain a neat and safe work area. - Demonstrate technical skills such as cannulation, machine setups, and disinfection. - Administer normal saline solution, xylocaine, and heparin according to physician's orders and under the delegation of the Medical Director and nursing supervision. - Perform blood drawing procedures. - May be required to take on-call in acute settings. - Exhibit core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors including communication, ownership, understanding, motivation, and sensitivity. - Practice customer service skills through ongoing training and in-services. - Be self-directed, flexible, committed to teamwork, and open to new learning experiences. - Accept and respect diversity without judgment. - Stand and walk most of the time while on duty. - Lift and push patients on stretchers and in wheelchairs. - Lift and carry dialysate solution containers and other equipment. - Work in environments that may expose you to hazardous waste. - Adhere strictly to confidentiality and privacy requirements in accordance with HIPAA. - Participate actively in a continuous learning environment, contributing to team and program learning where appropriate. - Effectively communicate with supervisors, charge personnel, and team members, including medical leadership. - Accept constructive criticism professionally and demonstrate adherence to diversity principles and expectations.
