The primary responsibility of the Deisel Mechanic is to oversee and carry out the maintenance of Driving Academy's fleet of 35-40 Commercial Motor Vehicles, including trucks and busses. You will be working hands on with our trucks to carry out preventative maintenence tasks, repairing or replacing broken and worn components, diagnosing unknown faults, and ensuring that vehicles comply with DOT and safety regulations. You may be expected to travel between our locations in New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania to access our vehicles.

Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctioning, deteriorated, broken, nonfunctioning, or damaged components or systems of trucks and buses.Performs routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery with or without diagnostic toolsUses hand tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, or precision instruments, as well as power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, or jacks and hoists to repair or replace truck and bus componentsDisassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches, and differential units.Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valvesDismount, mount and repair or replace tiresAdjust or repair computer controlled exhaust emissions devicesInstall or repair accessoriesOperate CDL vehicles to maneuver them between operations area and mechanic shopDetermine the tools and parts needed for repairsMaintain mechanic shop safety through cleaning, organization, and inspections of equipmentMaintains records of all service and repairs performed on company vehiclesOther duties as assigned
