Brookside Multicare Nursing Center - BROOKSIDE MULTICARE NURSING CENTER DEPARTMENT: FOOD SERVICES

JOB TITLE: DIETARY AIDE

REPORTS TO: FOOD SERVICES SUPERVISOR/DIRECTOR

SUPERVISES: NONE

COORDINATES WITH: ALL DEPARTMENTS EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate preferred. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language and possess basic arithmetic skills. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions and possess kitchen experience. Must know how to clean various surfaces and equipment. Be familiar and capable of handling equipment and food preparation following high sanitation standards and cleanliness. PHYSICAL/MENTAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and take initiative and maintain the kitchen in a clean, safe and orderly condition. Must cooperate with others and be capable of performing a variety of assigned tasks. Position requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment and perform simple food preparation tasks. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift and push for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 25+lbs. Must be able to withstand extreme temperatures, hot and cold.
Must handle tableware and kitchen utensils safely and accurately. Works with heavy mechanical kitchen equipment including but not limited to: dish washing machines, food slicer, ovens, food trucks, lowerators, silverware bag machine, etc. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position for meeting meal-time schedules and deadlines. SCOPE: Performs food preparation tasks assigned by the Director and/or Supervisor.
Helps transport food carts to patient floors. Cleans and operates all food service equipment including kettles, carts, dishes, pans, etc.. Sweeps and washes floors and maintains refrigerators and storage rooms in a safe, clean and sanitary condition. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all food preparation tasks. Prepares fruits and vegetables, removes food supplies from refrigerators and storage rooms as directed. Cleans all cooking equipment and floors as assigned. Wash dishes using the dish machines in a safe manner. Portion cold foods for tray service and assist in assembling tray. Assist in food preparation and serving residents and staff. Move loaded tray carts to and from patient units. Collect and remove garbage from the kitchen area to dumpster disposal. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Performs other related duties as directed.
