PurposeTo provide assistance in all dietary functions as directed and instructed in accordance with established federal, state and local dietary regulations, policies and procedures.Essential FunctionsJob FunctionsAssist in the preparation, service and delivery of meals and snacksKnow and use portion control procedures when preparing and serving mealsAssist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties including work areas, tables, appliances and floorsAssist in dish and utensil washing and cleaning including gathering soiled items from carts, trays and dining areas and placing clean items in proper storage areasAssist in distributing and collecting menus and checking all trays for completeness and accuracy of menu and diet preferences before distribution to residentsPerform all daily tasks in accordance with established Standards Precautions and sanitary, safety and infection control policies and proceduresMaintain resident's confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity and respectKnow and comply with Residents' Rights rulesReview and promptly report to Food Service Director all resident complaints and grievancesDispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies and proceduresWear protective clothing and equipment when handling infectious waste and/or blood and body fluidsAny other tasks, assignments, projects or requests as deemed by managementEnsure proper storage of raw and leftover foods; obtain food supplies for next mealsPromptly report all hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents and incidents to the food Service Director and/or the Executive DirectorAssist the community's Food Service Director as necessary and implement recommended changes as required ensuring that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies and proceduresQualificationsMust be 18 years of age or olderMust read, write, speak and understand EnglishPatience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the elderlyMust have upper body strength adequate to bend, lift, shift, move, and/or assist in moving articles of more than twenty-five poundsMust be able to squat, reach and stretch without distress.
