GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Direct Support Professionals (DSP) provide training and support to the elderly and people with disabilities at home, at work, and in the community.
DPSs transport, prepare meals, clean, and provide training to people at their homes, workplaces and community.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Other:
* Minimum high school diploma; must be over the age of 18
* Valid Michigan driver's license, three (3) years of driving experience
* Flexibility, caring, good communication and computer skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete all training and competencies with a passing score.
Achieve all competencies and meet with mentor as scheduled.
Provide participants with training and supports.
Train and support participants with cleaning, cooking, working, and recreation activities.
Complete cooking, cleaning and jobs when participants are unable to.
Assist participants in making progress toward activities of daily living, hobbies/art, work skills, and other community activities.
Ensure participant access to recreational, cultural, and religious opportunities.
Provide transportation to and from jobs, day programs, medical and dental appointments, activities, etc.
with company and/or personal vehicle.
Assist participants who have mobility, balance, strength and/or physical limitations.
Complete computerized daily progress notes highlighting progress toward goals and daily activities.
Follow medication administration and documentation procedures.
Attendant all scheduled meetings
Complete all assigned and required trainings
Abide by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics, Adult Protection Code, Mental Health Code, and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) guidelines.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental conditions:
* Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
Office, residential and community settings with varying sizes
* Sit, stand, and use a computer
Physical requirements:
* Stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer and medication administration work.
* Light to moderate lifting in required.

This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
