NKHS is a Designated Agency contracted with the State of Vermont to provide the highest quality of service in the areas of adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, children and youth with serious emotional disabilities, and adults with mental health and substance use challenges.
We serve the populations of Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties through a wide variety of targeted programs for individuals of all ages.
NKHS has employees providing case management, community and home supports, residential care, psychiatry, medication management, therapy, vocational supports, school based counseling, emergency care, and respite services.
These services are provided annually to nearly 4,000 of our local community members, helping them overcome challenges and achieve health in mind, body, and spirit.

Direct Support Professional:
Part-time to Full Time positions available.
Evenings, weekends and holidays may be required.

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) must be highly dependable and have a passion for helping those with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities live more independently, pursue their personal interests and goals, and be an active part of their community.
Working one-on-one with each client, you will assess their needs and tend to them accordingly, with the goal of fostering a positive, encouraging environment.
Training is provided.
Prior experience is a plus, but not required.
Flexible scheduling needs can be accommodated!
Mileage reimbursement included.
The primary responsibility of Direct Support Professional includes, but is not limited to:
* Provide support and guidance to individuals in employment settings to enable individuals to obtain and retain employment.
* Advocate and assist individuals with relating to family, community and others in a competent and respectful manner.
Facilitate valued social roles, and relationships.
* Assist and support individuals to develop natural supports in the community and work sites.
Position Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Experience working with individuals who have an intellectual/development disability preferred.
* Valid driver's license and appropriate vehicle insurance required
