SUMMARY Direct Support Professionals (DSP) provide quality supportive services to individuals with Developmental Disabilities|Autism through therapeutic assistance with or without the caregiver present. DSP's provide unique and high-quality supportive services that allow participants to fulfill their everyday lives within community settings. The individual in this role is an intricate part of the team. DSP's help to equip individuals with the tools they need to navigate through their day to day lives. The individual in the role collaborates with participants, family members, team members and collaborative staff at Specialized Quality Care to provide full service delivery.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Must demonstrate respect, integrity, responsibility and exceptional customer service at all times. Provides companion support through communicating, self-advocacy, person centered planning.Assist with personal care and health care assistance. Including but not limited to meal planning and preparation, shopping, laundry, housekeeping, light home maintenance, and day to day decision making. Participants have the right to make their own decision making.Assist with financial management including minimal purchases, receipt verification and reconciliation. Execute integrity and good judgement when assisting with funds.Helps participants with emotional support, community integration, socialization, entertainment, community engagement, social activities, social relationships and family engagement. Collaborate with individuals on the team such as families, day programs, employment programs, and additional team members on a need to know basis as recommended by management. Executes good judgment and responds to emergency situations in an appropriate manner.Reports and responds to any changes in the status of the all participants immediately.Transports participants to medical appointments and assists with personal errands. Ensure all transporting takes place in a company vehicle. Additional transporting requires authorization.Assist individuals with maintenance and utilization of medical equipment and transporting.Medication administration and monitoring. Ensure medication is administered as prescribed.Participate in team meetings and ISP reviews. Assist individuals with personal goal achievement.Complete assigned paperwork as outlined by the team. This includes but is not limited to ISP data forms, progress notes, and additional data analysis paperwork,Meet all training requirements as outlined in the organizational curriculum.Attends all mandatory staff meetings and additional meetings.Participate with all quality management improvement items of the organization. Demonstrates integrity when cooperating with all internal and external investigations Adheres to the policies and procedures outlined by Specialized Quality Care.Adheres to the regulatory requirements of the New Jersey Department of Human Services Division of Developmental Disabilities and licensing. ADA JOB REQUIREMENTS | ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Employees in the roles must be able to communicate effectively. Employees in this role must be able to maneuver up and down stairsEmployees in this role must be able to lift at least 20 lbs.Employees in this role must have the ability to observe details at a close range. MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS COMPENSATION & JOB TYPE Rate: $15 an hour
