GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Direct Support Professional Specialists assist Navigators/Case Managers with various paperwork, communicate with families, guardians, program participants, complete program schedules, calendars, work in our Electronic Data and Record Tracking System (DARTS), and review staff documentation for accuracy and timely completion.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School diploma or equivalency required, two-years of college preferred
Other:
* Must be at least 21 years of age.
* Three to four years related work experience serving individuals with disabilities preferred.
* Knowledge of performance measurement systems, mobile crew and enclave operations preferred.
* Knowledge of janitorial supplies and equipment and/or operations specific to assigned sites preferred.
* Recipient Rights training required within 30 days of hire.
* First Aid and CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
* Working knowledge of training techniques, behavior modifications, task analysis.
Fluency in American Sign Language is a plus.
* Reasoning and language skills as measured by Agency normed tests.
* Knowledge of and competency in the operation of Agency word processing software systems, database and spreadsheet applications.
* Composition skills sufficient to prepare required documentation.
* Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with the people we serve, staff and public.
Driving record must be sufficient to meet driving standards as established by Agency insurance carrier and will be run annually along with criminal background check, to comply with funding source requirements.
* Reliable automobile and valid Michigan driver's license, proof of registration and insurance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develop daily schedule for program participants.
Distribute monthly Skill Building calendars.
* Create, generate and distribute staff schedules.
* Monitor and track program participant attendance.
* Navigate internet browser to enter data into the Gesher DARTS system.
* Review job coach documentation to ensure accurate and timely completion.
* Follow up on incomplete or delinquent notes.
* Assist with marketing Gesher services.
* Communicate with external agencies, families, guardians, program participants and internal departments by phone or email to obtain necessary documents needed for compliance.
* Assist Navigators with documentation tracking.
* Develop and maintain site sheets and site binders ensuring the information is accurate and complete.
* Ensure program supplies are ordered and stocked to appropriate inventory levels.
* Track and monitor Agency janitorial equipment to ensure it is in working order and maintained properly.
* Attend Agency meetings as required.
* Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental conditions:
* Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
* Ability to work in a confined area.
* Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
Physical requirements:
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
* Light to moderate lifting in required.
