Responsibilities
• Recruits, trains, and supervises professional advising staff, interns, and student staff• Oversees fiscal and administrative operations for ACES and develops budget requests• Develops strategies and programming for advising engagement and orientation for exploratory students• Identifies and resolves problems related to departmental advising processes and structures• Evaluates and assesses departmental practices, compiles and prepares statistical reports• Coordinates with administrators across the UConn system regarding student advising• Interprets and applies University and college policies and regulations• Advises and counsels students in academic planning and career goals• Represents ACES on institutional committees and participates in special projects, workshops, and seminars• Manages departmental recruitment, outreach, and marketing efforts
Requirements
• Master's degree in counseling or a related field• Five or more years of experience as an academic advisor or counselor• Strong organizational, administrative, leadership, and supervisory skills• Ability to exercise independent academic judgment• Good communication skills and ability to relate well to students, faculty, and parents
